Stay Human shop is coming! need staff, stockist and exhibitions
Wednesday, February 20th, 2008Well, the shop is going full steam ahead. The only thing that might change now is that we open in a month (mid march) or a little sooner like 2 weeks. I’d like a bit more time to sort stuff out, but we may just jump on in.
More detail:
Stay Human is starting to trade upstairs in a store located at the top end of Bridge rd, Richmond (across from tofu shop). We’ll have three different sized machines set-up all the time so you can make your own badges for .50 cents each, also on display are samples of all our custom merch such as tees, hoodies, stickers, keyrings, available for ordering. We will also showcase a range of no sweatshop clothes and accessories like wallets, vegan belts, toys, whatever we can find. Hopefully Blackspot shoes too and some music like poison city, hobble de hoy, care factor.
We need:
Staff: On tuesday and wednesdays from 1.30-5.30 (four hours) i’ll need someone to work in the shop, once we’re open. Right now i’d rather someone who is happy to work in exchange for some space in the shop to sell their own products, without a comission. Or some other stay human merch contra deal. If that sounds ok to you then get in touch.
Stockists: I want the shop to have heaps of fairtrade and handmade accessories, clothes, toys, art etc. Right now i’ve lined up a few stockists but want more. With stockists you can hire some display space for $20 a week and we’ll sell your stuff with no comissions, or put it in on consignment with a 30% commission.
Exhibitions: One of the best things about the space is that there is room to hold events and exhibitions aswell. The space is quite large and i’m happy to let people use it for free if they want to put on cheap or free exhibitions/events that will draw people to the shop. I’m thinking fashion shows, art exhibitions, film screenings, markets, photo exhibitions. If you’re searching for a space to put something on and Bridge rd is suitable then let me know. No gigs just yet though sorry.
i’m so damned excited about this! if anyone has feedback or ideas about stuff we should do then please get in contact. i’ll be throwing up pics of the space in the next week or two. bye.

Stay Human shop!
Thursday, February 14th, 2008you heard it right friends. it’s looking about 90% certain that within just a few weeks i’ll be setting up shop in bridge rd richmond. There is a cool rock and roll clothing shop with a large upstairs and i’ll be renting a part of it from them. So i thought i’d put the word out now and say i’m looking for people who will want to stock stuff in there. I’ll be having badge making and the custom merch but i also want to stock a lot of no sweatshop and vegan clothes and accessories too. What i’d love is some people to hire a display case and i’ll sell the stuff comission free, to help soften my rent. Or if you have a better idea we can work it out. I’d also love to stock cd’s by local distros and labels.
also there is room for one or two other shop/offices upstairs with me, they’d really like a tattooist operation but anything else cool would be good so if your interested let me know i’d love to have a few cool neighbours. the rents about $150 a week and it’s right near the hoddle st end of bridge road. so please get in touch with me, i sort of want to know that people will stock stuff with me before i say yes in the next two or so days… thanks
